Thank you for visiting our site! The Copeland Middle School Substance
Model is a worthy one to consider for legislative support. It includes a
comprehensive approach that:
 |
Educates users and potential users to the dangers of substance
abuse. |
 |
Teaches young people how to resist peer pressure. |
 |
Develops self-esteem and confidence among our young people. |
 |
Promotes social bonding and strong family ties. |
 |
Creates community support and involvement for prevention activities. |
In
the 1998 school year "Project Positive Choice" was a
pilot program, we are celebrating our 10th successful year!. We know
we must continue to further investigate how we can be more effective in
the area of prevention. We need to evaluate our efforts and we need to
be vigilant in our observations if we truly want to make a change in
attitudes and behaviors. The communication, programmatic and
infrastructure of this program is in place. A solid foundation of
community, police, school, parents, local government and concerned
citizens, all working in a cooperative, collaborative and unified manner
can happen in communities throughout the state. This is the critical
ingredient to the uniqueness and success of this program. It is a grass
root, community initiative that involves many stakeholders. We trust we
can continue building on these efforts as we continue to labor for our
children. They are counting on us. We cannot fail them.
